The defending champions, Super Eagles of Nigeria have revive their hopes of making it to the coming African Nations Cup by beating Congo 2-0. This means if they beat South Africa in their next match, they will secure automatic qualification behind group winners, South Africa.
In other matches played, South Africa beat Sudan 2-1 to top Group A, while Cameroon beat DR Congo 1-0 to claim Group D.
Zambia beat hosts Mozambique 1-0 in Maputo to qualify in Group F with leaders Cape Verde Islands. Burkina Faso beat Lesotho 1-0 in Maseru and Gabon held home team Angola to a goalless draw in Luanda.
As things stand at the moment, Nigeria would have to beat South Africa in Uyo, on Wednesday to get automatic qualification to next year’s nations cup.
