ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, PT.1

BibleTEXT: Exodus.8: 8-10; Isaiah.10:27; Isaiah.30: 19; Nahum.1: 13; Matthew.11: 12; James.5: 16

Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron and said, Intreat the LORD, that he may take away the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may do sacrifice unto the LORD. And Moses said unto Pharaoh, Glory over me: when shall I intreat for thee, and for thy servants, and for thy people, to destroy the frogs from thee and thy houses that they may remain in the river only? And he said, TOMORROW. And he said, be it according to thy word: that thou mayest know that there is none like unto the LORD our God”

Exodus.8: 8-10

Moses the man of God had brought down the plague of frogs all over Egypt. Frogs were everywhere all over the land of Egypt. Pharaoh couldn’t take anymore and he begged Moses to intercede for him and his people that God would take all the frogs away from the land of Egypt. So then, Moses said to Pharaoh,” I have heard your request and I will do as you have requested…now, Pharaoh, when would you like for me to pray to God to remove the frogs from your land? You would expect Pharaoh to say, right now Moses! Pray right now! But Pharaoh’s answer is baffling, he answered Moses,” Pray TOMORROW!” In other words, the frogs can stay one more night in town, Moses, you can pray for me tomorrow! That’s ridiculous isn’t it? That’s weird in every sense of it. Here was a man who had been having great troubles with frogs covering every available space in his kingdom. It was so unbearable at a point that he cried to Moses for help. The man of God agrees to pray to God for him so that deliverance might come. All of a sudden Pharaoh was willing to spend ONE MORE NIGHT with his problems, he suddenly didn’t want deliverance right away, he wanted deliverance tomorrow. He was willing to spend one more night with all the frogs, his miseries and troubles. Pharaoh suddenly didn’t seem quite hungry for deliverance and solution.

A lot of people are like this, they are willing to tolerate their troubles, sorrows and miseries for a little more time, and for another day…they are not hungry enough to say, “God, enough is enough! I want deliverance now; I need my liberation and freedom NOW! Not TOMORROW, Lord deliver me NOW!” A lot of people undergo all forms of rituals and mechanical praying without experiencing the power of God and this is because they lack the real heart hunger that is vital and key to experiencing the miraculous power of God. They lack the spiritual doggedness and hunger and desire that are required to say,” God, enough is enough!”

But you see, DESIRE and HUNGER is required to receive from God. Desire adds the required bite and push to bring about victory.

I am reminded about blind Bartimaeus in the gospel and how he received his healing from the Lord Jesus Christ. The blind man was hungry and ready for his deliverance. His hunger and desire helped him overcome the obstacles of the crowd of men following Jesus Christ that day. The crowd could not shout him down simply because he was hungry and desperate for a miracle from God!

46 ¶ And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging.

47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

48 And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

49 And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.

50 And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus.

51 And Jesus answered and said unto him, what wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.

52 And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way. {made…: or, saved thee}”

Mark.10: 46-52.

Notice that when Jesus called for the blind man and asked him,”…what wilt thou that I should do unto thee?” the man didn’t say, “Lord I need prayer!”, and the man didn’t give a long list of things he needed, like food and a host of others. He knew what he needed and he went straight to the point because he was hungry for a miracle, he screamed, “Lord open my eyes! Lord give me back my sight! Enough is enough for the life of blindness! Enough is enough for the beggarly life!” Blind Bartimaeus got to the place where he could no longer live another day as a beggar and as a blind man! That day he walked away with new eyes.

I would also like for you to note that hunger and desire helps ones faith, it helps to provoke faith into action which is what gets to job done. To receive anything from God faith is required,

“Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye DESIRE, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them”

Mark.11: 24

Refuse to tolerate the activities of the devil in your life and whatever yoke it is you have been laboring under, say to it today,” enough is enough in Jesus name!”

To be continued.
